Plot of that movie was a bit inconclusive, but then, you don't watch Bollywood for conclusive Western style plot. Also, while Wetern theatre distinguished genres early on (Aristotle, I think, who else?), classical Indian theory lists seven emotions an claims a good story needs to contain them all, and touch all of them them in the listeners/audience; that is why such a hodge-podge for unaccustomed Westerners.
