There's a documentary about some animist culture in Indonesia (the ones with the long, pointy, many-layered roofs, you know?) having a real big burial ceremony.

A huge event which only happens for the most important personages.

Among them, quite a few young Western men and women with big cameras.

Of course - once such an event happens in an indigenous culture that is being studied, the ethnology students and postdocs and whatnot convene from all over the globe to observe...

What was that about the observer altering the effect? Quantum mechanics, was it?

Bet it works even better for ethnology.
