Meme re-run season

This is the time for meme re-runs; fahye is doing the DVD style fic commentary again. I didn't write much fic recently, apart from three or so pieces for he Discworld RPG, so I'll do another meme re-run:

Ask any of the characters I write or RP any questions, and they will answer truthfully and completely. Can be fanfic, original writing (although not many people know about that) or RPG characters.

Ask away - and then offer on your own LJ if you have any entities at all that you can speak for as characters...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

"She became the Empress' most trusted confidante, the only intermediary between Her Majest and Rasputin."

Extra points if we can guess each others books.
