I'm afraid that Beatles Radio started to bore me after an hour; of course, Celine Dion helped to drive me away...But I found another radio station in the 50s/60s section of the iTunes radio section that I've started listening to extensively - Technicolor Web of Sound. All sorts of psychedelic hippy music from the late sixties. When I found that there had been a band seriously called '13th Floor Elevators', I was very amused, and got hooked. I somehow start getting a connection there - the proximity of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the fact that some of the early people there were hippies of some sort, the pony tails the tech geeks sport, the resurgence of psychedelic elements in the Goa Trance music in the 90s, 'Information Wants To Be Free', Open Source, the collapse of the New Economy, and then Web 2.0, and virtual worlds. From mind expansion toe Second Life. There's a couple of other buzzwords to throw into the mix, and then I can cook up a Grand Theory Of Everything for 2007... *grins*
ETA: And here we are! This documentary about Google (in French/in German) picks up on just that connection I've been thinking about. And I've already got a fictional character out and about who lives at just that memetic junction.
