nazgulwears and I are sitting in the same room, watching the same DVD (giggling our heads off at Jeremy Irons' OMG purple gloves!!!) and talking to each other via Google Talk while we do.
Admittedly, it's only to push links at each other, but still, being in IM with a person in the same room must be the pinnacle of geekishness.-
I've done this frequently, both with a friend on the sofa opposite mine, and with a friend in another room in the house. The stupidest conversation ever was about whether we wanted to get up and walk the ten metres to put the kettle on, or whether we could wait to have tea and coffee for a while longer, which descended into the chaos of when are they going to invent a kettle that you can IM to and will put itself on to boil!
I've done this with my sister from different rooms in the house... It was quite common to get an IM from her in the bedroom that says "bring me a soda" since my CPU was closer to the kitchen than hers! I've also done similar things while tagging MM with anghara13 and she was merely a simple five feet away! open_the_blinds and I do so randomly, but usually just sharing links or exchanging graphics while she's here. Broadband is a good thing to have with graphics.
