New decorations - picture post
New decorations bought at IKEA on Tuesday, with some very decorative and colour-coordinated kitties right in them.

Here you see an overview of all the new stuff (apart from the laundry rack and the crockery that I really went there for): new little tea table, black and red covers for the divan, wall deco, curtains.

My cats, red and black as well, fit very nicely with the new decorations.

This is a plaster head of some Greek statue or bust, allegedly Aphrodite, that is a family heirloom -- it is told that she was white at the beginning of her existence, but turned that colour because her first owner, a teacher of Latin and Greek in the 1920s, had her in his study and smoked his pipe there al that time; that is why the deeper parts are less stained, which make he look a bit spooky, or even like photo negative. I put her up there now because she fits the place and the style..

And how well the cats fit on the divan! No, of course I didn't take the picture mainly because of Mephi's ridiculously awkward pawsitude, why would you think that?

Here you see the new wall decoration in greater detail.

And another general impression of what my room looks like now. The red curtains look nice and dramatic, and are modelled a bit after the ones that I posed with in Ravenna -- only red and transparent, instead of undyed, and opaque. The dark curtains are very dark an thick -- they keep out light and noise both, in the mornings. On Wednesday, I promptly overslept horribly because it was so unusually dark and quiet in the early morning.
