35. Who do you think impacted your life the most? Mrs. Albrecht, the old lady who edited the posthumous works of Paul Tillich and came for long sessions with my grandfather, who was the only person who could reliably read that man's handwriting. She took me under her wings, taught me to sail a boat, drive a car, be irregular and daring and bold. She died in February 1992, from a heart attack while swimming at a beach in Gran Canaria, aged 83; a very fitting end!
36. Was there a teacher or authority figure that stood out for you? The history teacher that had gone to Greece with us and calmed the waves when there had been wank; a few days on, he stayed behind while I was painting, never showing himself, until I was done and then casually walked to the beach with me where the others were. Legally, we were all of an age where we were allowed to move freely; he did not hurry me on, there by myself at the Aphaia temple in Aigina, he just did not abandon me to my own recklessness. Such quiet dedication to his job inspired instant dedication in return, so for the last 2 1/2 years known as 'college stage' in German higher education, I picked all his classes first and arranged the rest of the courses around them. I was furious when I disovered I was required to take Social Sciences and had to drop his Religious Education class.-
