Supernatural 5.03 -- obligatory running spoiler post

  • OMG the face Castiel makes when Dean's pop-cultural references go just whizzing over his angelic head!!
  • I like the clever girl in the place where Sam works -- but this being SPN, she's going to buy the farm or at least be seriously scared out of her wits and become a victim of some sort, before the ep is over
  • "When humans really want something, they lie. That's how you become president." My, aren't we cynical, Dean.
  • OMG the face Castiel makes in that brothel type place! Scared angel is scared!
  • So God is dead? Hey, so is Nietzsche. To be less flippant, enough with the 19th century argument already. Why do people need remedial memetics from the end of the 19th century? Have we backslid so far? Last episode, Dean rehashed a pet argument from that time already, popular among 'high literature' characters like Ivan Karamasov as well as 'trivial literature' ones like Teja.
  • Hehhhhhh won my bet! She is some sort of victim now, with a knife at her throat, and totally scared. Lessee if she survives this. My bets are on 'No' -- or she is a demon!
  • OMG Castiel calling Raphael 'my little bitch' for being stuck in the circle of burning oil. And again, Raphael has made Vanya's and Teja's argument, this time with a lot more power behind it. You know, that starts reminding me an awful lot of the last part of 'His Dark Material' when we realise God is out of it, too, and it's Metatron running the whole show on the angel side. Now, if Metatron turns up in Supernatural before the season is out, I shall do something weird, like consume a bottle of Koskenkorva and howl at the moon. On the other hand, he is pop culture by now exactly on account of HDM, which Dean might or might not have read, and 'Dogma', which I bet anything he has seen, so there could be Metatron meta of elaborate depth.
  • Argh and the girl is just chained to that beer-tap (which she could easily pull loose from!!) looking frightened and giving little gasps and saying nothing. Yep, the treatment of women-as-victims is like that Fed-Ex arrow [livejournal.com profile] innerbrat went on about. Once you've seen it, you can never unsee it. As the SPN creators are obviously wise to what fandom thinks (as seen in the 'Prophet Chuck' stuff), why can't they wise up to this and finally do something about it?
  • OMG the face Castiel makes when Dean tells him "... and you're not that much fun." Awwwww!
  • And where did she go now?? Last we saw of her was standing there, still chained, looking dramatically aghast at Sam. She doesn't even deserve a mention in the coda, that's how unimportant she is.- **sigh**
