Another round of the 'five words you associate me with', this one from Scot!Jen a month or two ago. I didn't get down to answering since then, but just now, I have internet and no icons to make and only one thread.

If you want me to associate you with five terms in turn, just reply to this post with 'Words!' and I'll give you five mini-essays.

Weapons: When I studied Japanese, I geeked out on YukiƓ Mishima, and he had been fascinated with swords; so when I went to Japan, I felt great respect for the old swords in the museums. A little while later, I saw a poor neglected katana in the window of a pawn shop, in a place where I sometimes worked while I was studying. The last time I went there, I really had to liberate the blue katana. That was how it started. Actually, I now only have a battle axe and a sahs in addition to that katana. Enough to deter any burglars, I guess.

Photography:
I only do everyday digital photography with a little Z-series Casio Exilim, nothing special at all; I've had it since Easter 2005, but it serves me well. I do read up on digital photography and the like, of course, so Andras in Morningstar Manor can talk shop and sound halfway believable.

Purple: That was because of Asar-Suti, the purple deity of volcanic evil I used to play in Milliways. His magic was purple fire, purple jewels, and so on. I somehow picked up the purple as a sort of character bleed. I've retired him this apping cycle, but I guess the purple thing will stay with me.

Poodles: That was just Andras's nickname, and then Sal had her MM charrie Nick inherit one from his profligate mother. I think they're fun dogs, especially the great big ones. I saw a bloke with one on the street the other day; the poodle was about as tall as the Metropolitan's rottweiler had been, but less massively muscular.

Ballet: I always liked watching ballet; and we used to have a very good ballet company at the Wiesbaden theatre. Unfortunately, their contract wasn't extended. They were good and did unusual things that were very popular, programmes of pop songs or French chansons. They were probably not boring and deep-and-meaningful enough for a state-funded provincial German theatre. Bah! Getting Marek as a character was inspired by them, and somehow, the PB could only be Rudolph Nureyev...
