I'm so ancient!!

MTV has Nirvana only this evening because it's ten years since Kurt Cobain killed himself. I remember sitting at my computer, alternatingly writing my magisterial thesis and my long keeping-my-mind-off-uni-work fic Lieutenants, listening to MTV all the time in the background, and then those news coming through.

They played the Unplugged set over and over again on MTV in those days. I never enjoyed Nirvana as such very much, to be quite honest - but I bought  the Unplugged album and must have played it hundreds of times. It was one of those albums everyone had, like Buena Vista Social Club or Swing When You're Winning. I then gave it away to a colleague that left at my first job, and didn't have it for years until I bought it again, recently, in some "Utter Classics" edition. I had quite missed Kurt Cobain singing "Lake of Fire"...

And now it's all ten years ago - I fell so utterly ancient!!

not sure if you would be up for this, however we arelooking to get the Wraeththu RPG site translated in to german. I thought youmight be interested. However because me and storm are so skint, we can offer you a few books as a form of payment. All it would need is the text directly translating I can build a set of pages identical to the current to take the text. Also if we do any updates we can send you the info along.

Mail me if you interested.

I remember walking into the college cable TV station where I worked and the thing being on the TV we always had going in the studio, on VH1, which of course covered the story. I didn't really get it because I honestly had almost no idea who Kurt Cobain was, although I'd heard of Nirvana. I spent about the next year playing catch up and in my typical fashion, decided after the fact that I really enjoyed them. Of course the best thing ever to come out of Nirvana was Sinead O'Connor's COVER of "All Apologies." That and the night my friend Dee and I spent listening to their album In Utero convincing ourselves Kurt was screaming "JUSTINNNNNNNNNNNNNN!" (That's an in joke, sorry.)
