We went to the middle ages, but got drownded

At first, the weather was nice and warm; we got there, got two Euros off for being in medieval garb, and then there waws mead beer in large clay cups, which you see me drinking on that picture. The Nazgul keeps taking the nicest pictures of me quaffing.

The Nazgul, quaffing as well. She was wearing the blue over-dress and white headgear again that she'd worn in Kaltenberg two years ago, and she's blaming it for what happened later, because every time she wears that (this was the second time of two), we get wet through -- remember, [livejournal.com profile] corchen?

A small hand-operated merry-go-round for children.

Arrowheads! The Nazgul especially liked the bodkin one (fourth from right) while I  enjoyed seeing a trilobate one (second from right). For some reason unknown to me, the replica smiths never make proper Scythian trilobates, though. There are hundred of examples on archaeological record, and they're an incredibly elegant design -- I really don't get why there aren't any about.

The forge. Unlike the Kaltenberg one, where the smith lugged around lots of stuff to set it up, this is a very small portable workshop. Teja's forge on campaign would have been like that.

And suddenly, everything was full of medieval Scots in tartan and furs...

... and with REALLY big swords!

A look towards the stage, over the audience area. You can already see the dark clouds coming up.

Omnia played about three or four songs, and then all hell broke loose. They tried to keep going, but then lightning, rain water, or both killed their sound system dead. I am not going to make jokes about 'Kill it with water'... People huddled under the big parasol/umbrella things, but eventually, they fled. There was not going to be a concert at all. Well, we had seen all sorts of crafts and eaten and drunk interesting things, and I have a strip of sheepskin for my cats to play with -- Mephisto is killing it over and over as I write this. But I would totally have loved to see a concert with Omnia. They're a band I like a lot. By the way, under out umbrella, there were mostly 'black bloc' people, some of them the serious BDSM kind. And the bloke behind the Nazgul in that picture? I would totally have hired him for a photoshoot for a new icon set for Teja; he really looked like Teja on those old canon illustrations. But for that, I would have  had to have a) less rain, b) more light, c) a decent camera d) actual money to offer him and d) lots and lots and lots more Dutch courage. So.-
