It was almost painful to see Sallie flinch and get totally scared when she knocked over the milkshake, because she was expecting terrible trouble, and all fun to be over at once. Instead, it was mopped up, and the fun went on. She was almost incredulous. That served to show sharply how different Megan and Betty really are.
