We were greeted by some noble family on horseback, with their own nursemaid and herald

Armour in front of some tent

A falconer had brought an owl

Arrows at the bowmaker's/fletcher's

The bowmaker/fletcher at work

A barbarian warrior is smoking his head over a small cooking pot; no idea why he is doing that

I like how those wooden willies have female shape. We were much amused by huuuuuge wooden willies at one of the stands, though. Probably something to with fertility or, erm, sex?

Classic medieval fiddler

Maidens dancing

At the beginning of the joust, many performers entertain the audience - among them these Bosch monsters on long stilts

Something evil this way comes...

Attacking the castle of the 'bad guys' - with fiery effects!

Jousting proper - white against black. A rather large number of people cheered for black; Nazgul and I did as well, of course! Some even had black flags.

The final triumph of the 'good guys'

Photo op with all the knights;

The Black Knight among his female fans; he does rather look like Aragorn...

The Black Knight (chin, middle) autographing a book the Nazgul (glasses, to the left) happened to have on her: 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events', actually

To especially please a certain Princess Yakalskovich AKA Maru, one of my favourite medieval bands played at a corner of the Market - Corvus Corax!! I had their CDs before, and had seen them live in their AU incarnation 'Tanzwut' where they combine the unique sound of their five battle bagpipes with electronic music and sing in modern German; they played supporting to Apo when they still dared to come to Munich. Here you see their lead, who goes by the name 'Castus Rabensang', going at the audience with said battle bagpipe. That was when I was finally transported into elated happiness by the whole proceedings. You don't want to meet Maru when transported into elated happiness...

And more battle bagpipes, doing what they do best!
We decided to come back next year, and in costume! We are going to be medieval nuns, and are already researching how the robes and veils and wimples work, what colour they should be. Nazgul found a rather nice picture on this site from Herefordshire; we are still discussing details, though.
