I'm still finishing 'On Stranger Tides', the book from 1987 that 'suggested' PotC4 (and with its world of 18th century sailing + pirates + vodun magic, much of the mood and reality of the other PotC movies).

I like it, so far. The one female character is a bit too Damsel In Distress for my taste, but then, it was written by a man in 1987, what can one want?
