I asked in my post but none of my many German friends replied.
Those loitering tourists are always making us miss trains but I ask because I had some German pensioners loudly complaining that people should use the stairs if they want to walk and was flabberghasted. Then looked for signs, if they needed any, and I think there are little pictorials but wtf it is only logical, nobody I know doesn*t know. They might do it if midtalk or assholes but everyone knows you walk on the left. So strange to think it*s not common enough in Germany for staid older couples to know! :)
*snickers at the thought of them hearing you suggest they come from backwater, what with having sneered at us locals*
This is nearly as big a surprise to me as discovering Berlin wasn*t actually at the border between East and West. I like telling this story to prove I am not well educated!
Yes, thank you! I initially had written it proved that I was not "intelligent" but I maintain that it is intelligent or logical to assume a divided city at a border, hah :)

Ah, well, Berlin being divided would make so much more sense if it was on the border, but actually, West Berlin was an enclave.
