Mad Men episode 5.01 -- running commentary
- What place is it that SCDP reside in now? The windows look dinghy!
- Awwww, Sallie is jealous of Meghan. What happened to the way she adored her at the end of last season?
- When are we? Not that far from the end of last season, as Joan's baby is totally little at the moment. And hse has to have her mother around. And her hair is all messy. Poor Joan!
- Oh, the firm which threw water bombs out the dinghy windows was the competition!
- Pete is seriously acquisitioning customers and making himself REALLY useful now, pulling his weight. Definitely pulling his weight.
- Awww Joan on the sofa! Her place is still very stylish, even though slightly un-unfucked at the moment. Ahhhh, I really still watch this thing for her sake, even though the rest is equally brilliant.
- Husbands could still forbid wives to work back then, yes. My mum sacked a bloke days before their planned wedding because he insisted she shouldn't continue her training as a teacher. That was about a year or two after this episode.
- Hahahah Don is getting too meek because he's so happy with his life!
- Hah, now Pete is stuck with the suburban home with a brown kitchen!
- OMG the colours those women are wearing are giving me eye cancer!
- Meghan definitely is a match for Don -- she has the brain and style to stand up to him.
- An apartment in Manhattan like that would be unaffordable nowadays, I guess.
- Roger is getting more and more obnoxious. And veering into alcoholism. While Don is disgustingly happy.
- Why does everybody has that smattering of antiques around in their offices now, instead of the strict Midcentury Modern of the old firm?
- Getting through doors with prams hasn't become any easier.
- That pink she is wearing!!! OWWWWW!!
- Meghan's coral red dress and Joan's bright pink clash more horribly than there are words for. I am sure that was intentional.
- Awwww Joan!! She is missing her job. And Lane Pryce is REALLY kind to her.
- She's even more boobalicious than usually. That's probably from having the baby, even though she's not nursing -- they were discussing formula earlier. People used it as a matter of course back then.
- LOLs at how they are passing that baby around!
- I like the longer format. I could keep watching them work all day.
- Joan with glasses in the elevator getting the baby to sleep.
- Now I do hope they will really hire a black secretary!!
