Yes. See, a lot of those points were why I am extremely leery about the prospect of seeing this. Because it seems to me - admittedly, just garnered from Tumblr fandom - that it's the most OOC of all the remakes. Is there a bit where Valjean slaps Cosette? I'm sure I've heard that. Because...no. Just, no. Would never happen.
Javert watches her customers abuse her and then steps in only to hit her and arrest her.
Wait, what? The whole point of that bit in the brick is that Javert doesn't see Bambatois abuse her, and then won't listen when she tries to tell him. He's convicted her in his own mind already, based on her job. And decided that the 'gentleman' is innocent. Good going, movie.
And how can he set her prison sentence all by himself?
That's Brick!canon, though. IIRC, he has the right to do that, and it's that right that Madeleine supercedes when he's all 'hell no, Javert. She's going to hospital', etc.
Cosette meant to become a nun, even briefly? So the whole thing with the Gorbeau tenements doesn't happen, then, and they stayed in the convent all the time and move to Rue Plumet (unless they change the name) only when Cosette is almost fully grown?
It's mentioned in the Brick that she considered it, but Valjean thought she had a right to see a bit of the world first, before she made a decision like that.
Despite the uprising, Javert wants to go after Valjean only, instead of trying to work with the rest of the police.
Noooooooo. That's not what he does. GDI, film.
I think...watching this would make me angry. Maybe I'll get it for when I'm in a mood to hurl abuse at something. Grr.
