So this really sticks rather closely to brick canon? Interesting. I mean, it's quite obviously not a movie made for the big screen; it's slow and takes its time and has all those authentic locations and props. But there is nothing wrong with that!

I'm not completely convinced about Depardieu as Valjean yet, but Malkovich as Javert rocks. His voice alone is worth doing the French-German-English thing to my brain.
