Yep, they are. And all of milliways_bar is even more ubiquitous; but every time I hear the slightly snarky and offended voice in wich a navigational system in a car tells you to 'please make a u-turn as soon as possible', I grin muchly.

My friend Iris has one in her VW van that we call 'The Lady'...
