The Ultimate Spring Wank 2006

Is happening in the German-speaking blogosphere, and I'm luckily not involved, just some comms that I'm hanging around on the fringes of.

By now it involves several lawyers, an international NGO that is deconstructing its own reputation and contravening its own aims, the online division of a state-sponsored TV channel, and much of 'Kleinbloggersdorf' as the German-speaking blogosphere self-ironically calls itself.

Transparency International vs. a young single mother on welfare, with an autistic child...

If you're one of my German-speaking readers, do follow that up, it's a rather monstrous and public sort of online wank. Germany doesn't have ambulance-chasers, it has 'Abmahnwahn' which enables crooked lawyers to almost randomly force people to pay them almost random amounts of money for speaking their mind, especially about corporations, without legal recourse. Think of it as a cease-and-desist that costs money even the first time around, when you didn't yet know anybody takes is taking exception at what you say...

[livejournal.com profile] wiebke, this is definitely worth following up, and possibly linking from your own LJ. Until last weekend, that blogger was only a minor hub node for parents with autistic children; now she's becoming the focus of what is possibly becoming the first public debate about blogging vs. journalism in Germany.
