Varia

Punning and 'original' shop names are very common in the UK, I've observed. Especially for hairdressers. Less and less 'Phil's Barber Shop', more and more 'The Cut Above' (to use the shop names from 'Blow Dry').

This is a very funny site that collects them. Note the violent purpleness of this one especially!

As for the thing on my icon? Here is a comprehensive article in German (say sorry!!) about the exhibition I went to on my way to Wiesbaden earlier this month, summing up neatly all I learned there until I stepped into the presence of the thing itself and instantly forgot all the scientific blah blah blah hoo hoo hoo...

You would not believe the tumult (or would you?) when a busful of US teenagers in Aberdeen see(s) a gardening shop named "Potty on Plants".

I really thought there was gonna be a riot on that bus. That, and when they saw the young man with a mohican that had spikes that were a good foot long each. Although, really, given that we all came from the San Francisco Bay Area, we shouldn't have been such rubes as all *that*.
