Why is Crouch playing football for England? Is he related to Barty Crouch? Why is he so fearfully skinny and wears a long-sleeved jersey? Because he's a wizard and doesn't need muscles but has to hide a wand instead, is it that? Since when is it allowed to use magic in football, then?

So many questions...

My father, my associate in watching the matches, was cheering loudly for Crouch all the way through. Really getting into that one. I suspect a similar situation was taking place all over the nation, and the Cosmic Forces decided it was simply too pathetic.

But wizard!Crouch works equally well. Perhaps he is a long-lost cousin who will mysteriously undergo "an injury" and be recruited to help the Ministry of Magic connect with Muggles, now that he is famous. That would be AWESOME.
