We're getting a hurricane.
Hamburg will be drowned; at least the first people in the German speaking blogosphere are babbling about evacuations.
There used to be these catacombs of basements near the harbour where the street goes up to the whore houses, where the sailors used to sell some souvenirs from far countries before walking up to the aforementioned establishments. We visited there, were very impressed by the sheer impressive value of the haphazard ethnological museum, and I still remember the screen I didn't buy because it would have been too hard to get back to Munich.
Tonight, it'll all be drownded, unless there's some sort of last-minute miracle.

I'm in Munich, at the very other end of the country; but I remember that basement full of odds and ends fom all over the world, and that's a prime candidate for flooding. Mind you, some of it must have survived the 1964 flood in some way...

Cranes are designed to withstand that sort of thing right?

Only I saw a collapsed crane a few months ago along the railway line I travel every day...

I'm guessing by the fact you posted today that you're okay, but still *hugs*

Funnily, what was worrying me about our crane originally was the fact the arm was swinging free over our roofs...
*shrugs*
Now I am so ancient, but still learn fascinating new stuff all the time.
