The storm is upon us

It is really serious now - even according to the BBC (in English). And Spiegel Online, of course (in German).

At least I made it home; I cuddle my cat and hope for the best. But I'm rather scared of the cranes that the building site orcs use. It towers over us, and if we are very unlucky, we will be Tower'ed. The Metropolitans claim if it falls, it will fall into the front row of houses, not on ours. And if we are really lucky, and Tower is on our side (so to speak), it will fall into the house that the building site orcs have been 'renovating'. That would mean they'd most likely go bankrupt; they must be stretched thinly as it is.

So. Life remains interesting, but Lucifer's sleeping nevertheless.

Yep, I am back home, had pizza and vanilla coke and everything.
I only got nearly blown away twice so it wasn't that bad.

I hope the crane stands! Fortunately, they don't have much surface area, so are unlikely to be severely impacted - that's the technical part of me trying to rationalize it for you :)

I was told today that as long as the arm is allowed to swing free, a crane will turn into the wind so it can't fall. Only when the arms are left arrested will a crane fall.

This one was swinging free, which was part of what worried me originally...

I am so ancient now and still learn the most fascinating things all the time.
