yakalskovich: (Lucifer the cat)

I love Lucifer!

The most amazing thing about 'owning' a cat (or rather, getting one to live in my flat with me) isn't even the special funny things he does (expect a vid next weekend of Lucifer standing on his hind legs to get treats from my fingers, though), it is simply this:

I turn from the work I am doing at my computer to grab a sip of cold mocha, and this large, prone bundle of fur comes into sight, and I realise,

"There's a puma on my sofa, and he is mine!!"

Even after almost half a year, that sense of joy and wonderment hasn't dimmed.

ETA: Now with 100% more pictorial proof!

From a bit further away, to show his size. In the background, please not [livejournal.com profile] essayel's lovely drawing of [livejournal.com profile] gil_whimple and [livejournal.com profile] asar_suti !

A large red predator, asleep in the sun - [livejournal.com profile] cracicotus and [livejournal.com profile] wiebke, you know the blanket he is sleeping on and can guess how large his is, by the scale of those squares?>

The more paws, the cuter, as we learn on Cute Overload

'What you doing there with that clicky thing, human?'

And without the silly f-locks, because really, no reason to be private about how cute my cat is, is there?

I completely understand - although in my case, it's more like a baby panther!

I'm just amazed at how she managed to sleep on me in every position possible when I'm typing - even when I make no effort to accomodate her.

That last photo is precious. It's the typical "boy in a man's body" shot. Just look at those kitten eyes peering out from that tomcat's body. He still needs to grow into it. Prrr...

This morning I woke up to find Luckie actually completely asleep, with all four of her legs dragged over her head. She was a total pretzel but apparently quite comfy. Since I rarely get to see her sleep -- she always *knows* when you're looking -- I gazed at her for around 5 minutes. Then she woke up, yawned, and enjoyed a massage.

My Fritzi amazes me in similar ways.

He cracks me up when he walks into the house and starts with a kind of warbling meow which clearly means, "I'm home. Where is everyone? Hdello?" until we call to him and he comes to find us. At night, he does this to see if he is invited on the bed (even though he ALWAYS is), although he won't stay. Sometimes, I can say his name and he will say the meow equivalent of "What?" or maybe "Yes," or possibly my name; over and over, sometimes 10 times before he feels he's said enoough.

They really are like little wild animals that agree to live with us, although they are also like two year olds who need us far more than they want to let on.

The one of Lucifer looking at you, that one reminds me so much of our Chama, he had just the same kitten who refused to grow up look about him.

I miss all my babies that have gone on now, and seeing Lucifer growing up just makes me want another one, or two, but, right now is not the time. Maybe in the autumn.....

Uh huh, when I get back from the States, that'll be the time to have found one, I won't have any trips then for the best part of six months, long enough to convince them to stay with me. I hope. Small boy might be a bit offputting, but, I figure if I can live with him, maybe a cat can do the same. Maybe....

I did have one do that, I'm hoping it was because she came along before the small boy.... Maybe if the kitten has to put up with him to begin with, they can learn acceptable behaviour from each other?

Yeah, I know, wishful thinking maybe, but, hope springs eternal and all that!

Mowwwww. The link doesn't work. By the way, is Lucifer an indoors cat, or does he go out too?
