Twenty-four hours later...

... and my mother is still sitting beside me, oblivious to the world, playing Kyodai mahjongg. She's hooked, poor thing.

Well, to be honest, she did do many other things in between as well. It's not as if she'd stayed here and played all the intervening hours. But she doesn't even balk at my loud rude music, she's so totally absorbed.

On another note, the little lady, Phia, just declared she for her part definitely wasn't going to start a war. Well, if that's to be so, there's some hope for the future at least.-

Additionally, we're going to go away to Berlin for a few days tomorrow, so I might not be updating until the New Year. On the other hand, there are computers there, even if I leave my little foldup computer here in Wiesbaden, so I probably might update after all.

ever see that episode of star trek: next gen. when these aliens introduce the enterprise to this new computer game that uses a headset, and it turns out it's stimulating their pleasure centers like a drug?

Oh yes I did! I saw all episodes of TNG while I was supposed to write my magisterial thesis in 1994. I binged on all things Trek back then; and yes, I know what you mean.

Luckily, neither I nor my mother are taking our computers to Berlin, so she'll have four days of mahjongg withdrawal which I hope, will bring her to her senses a bit...
