GreatestJournal offline since ca. 4 am GMT this morning?

After all the upheavals with GreatestJournal in the last few days, the site seems to have been unreachable since sometime this night, European time; that would have been around 10 pm EST or 7 pm PST.

Has anybody here (that might have a game, or a journal-in-exile, on GJ) heard anything about it? There is nothing in Google News yet. If any of you hears or reads anything during the day, can they please tell or link me here? Thanks!

For MM people: Don't panic -- not yet! In January 2005, LJ itself was offline for several days. It happens. It doesn't mean that the bloke going by the name of 'System' has pulled the plug and cut his losses. The backups are current as of yesterday, nothing important has happened since then. So, order of the day:

• a) We wait what transpires!
• b) Sal said that Kel and she will discuss it when they can -- they are both insanely busy ATM
  
• c) We HAVE been looking into alternatives!!
• d) I am off work starting Friday and can then start putting the backups online, if GJ is still gone
• e) In the meanwhile, carry on in Writely and do your thing so it can be posted when GJ is back up, or in the new location
• f) Most importantly: DON'T PANIC!!

Can I ask what your ideas are for alternatives? I have a game over there, and no one seems to know/be able to agree on where to move to. :(

But we're looking at several alternatives at the moment, and can tell you about them when we know what they are.

What sort of upheavals? The kind we have seen at LJ, or something else?

After LJ did its thing, people fled to GJ, upon which they started getting problems with their resources. They cut back on icons and reduced features, but didn't have any technically qualified staff -- the bloke who'd set it up had gone incommunicado since 2003, or something like it.

Saturday night, they suddenly reduced the icons to ten without saying anything, and last night, it went offline.

Apparently, there was a DDOS attack. It is now online again.-

Here I thought it was just my computer... Am sad now... First the icon limitation, then the severe limitation, no notifies, now no GJ access :( What else will I do with my day? LOL!

Well no, nothing majorly important, I guess that one MNR Ang/Alec thread is lost, and the finishing tags for the OG shopping one from Saturday are gone now, but, no, nothing important really.... *sighs*

Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair does it?

Has been a number of hours now, and I napped for most of them, and it's still not back, but, miraculously enough, I am not panicking. Just, miserable.
