I just bought the most amazing deck of cards, combining Orthodox icons with the tarot. The name, 'Golden Tarot of the Tsars', is a bit sensationalist; but the deck itself is utterly brilliant, painted by a Bulgarian icon painter, and designed very lovingly, produced luxuriously -- oooh!

Even more so in the actual flesh, erm, cardboard, as all the old is actually shimmering gold foil, and the cards are so sleek and shimmering in your hand, with no mundane white paper, and that beautiful flip side with an image of the Pantokrator...

Amazing. Orthodox icon tarot. Byzantine. Holy and decadent at once. I already love it to bits. I've been meeting the Major Arcana a bit tonight; Tower is represented by St. Simeon Stylites.-

Tower is 'he' for me, not because of the German, but because he's my character in Milliways, under the journal name of destroy_restart. I keep going on about how that archetype totally takes over each time I play him, and how his readings are scarily, uncannily accurate?

I need an icon of the tarot icon of Tower.

And yes, you'll see it. You can touch it and leaf through it. I don't believe in the esoteric bullshit that only the owner should touch a tarot. Icons, on the other hand, get handled and touch and venerated by thousands.
