Kitten arrived. All black. Still sitting in the litter box. The cats are curious, but not aggressive. More later.-

ETA: And here's the first picture of the tiny patch of darkness with two glowing eyes that has barricaded himself in underneath my folding screen:

At the moment, he's just fluffy. I can't tell yet. But I think not; the Lady Lena's cats are common or garden European Shorthair.

She said that Lucifer is one of the largest that she's ever seen one of hers become -- not fat, tall! And as cowardly as he is long, she said.-

Mephisto, in the meanwhile, is hiding at the very back of the closet behind the big hiking boots. If I take a boot away, I can see a pair of black pointy ears, alert and interested.

But cautious.-

It seems that only yesterday Lucifer was doing the same behind the toilet!

Sofie is jealous. She wants a baby black kitten.

He is! Even his whiskers are black. I've held him in my hands when I took him out of the box Lena brought him in; such a soft, tiny creature! And he didn't try to scratch or bite me. But I'll give him time -- he can hide as long as he wants until the natural feline curiosity drives him out.-

I have always wanted a solid black kitty. Maybe one day I'll finally get one. I shall anxiously await more pics/stories so I can live vicariously through you. :)

He's cute. He's started venturing out again, and doesn't really take much shit from Luifer. They were terribly cute just now, sniffing each other's noses.-

You just wait until you see the newer pictures! They are starting to interact and get interested -- and while Mephisto is still rather scared of me, he's fascinated with Lucifer. They his and jump a bit, but aren't serious about hurting each other -- and that little critter is standing up to his older brother/cousin very well! Go Mephi!

Congrats on the new baby!!! He sounds adorable. I'd love to see more pics once he's settled in! Ooh, and have you thought of a name yet?

He's Mephisto. And he's settling -- slowly, because there's the usual rivalry with Lucifer.

But Mephi's turning out to be a cheeky little sod. Lucifer bowls him over, walks away, and the little black thing that looks like miniature Basement Cat follows right away and stalks Lucifer's tail.

Hehe! He sounds like my Zumi, who is definitely cheeky. I was lucky when I brought him home as a kitten -- my black cat, Puma, LOATHED him, but my tortie actually took him from me and washed him 2 seconds after meeting him for the first time. And she still acts like he's her baby whenever he does something to incur Puma's wrath. (Which is fairly often, being that he is a cheeky little bastard!)

I love cats so much. :D

I've closed the door between them now because Lucifer was getting a bit rough. But that's just for them to cool down a bit. Lucifer has already licked Mephisto's ears for a bit, before they started pouncing and squealing again; I am sure all will be well soon.-
