A few reasons why life is good right this moment:

Mephi is cute and cuddly; in the last few days he's discovered the joy of scritches, and is all tame now
I have wonderful creme fraiche and mango ice cream, with real mango pieces in it, and costing half of what my usual ice cream costs, at double the quantity
The sun is no longer shining in my window, and the insulation of this new house is so good, it never really gets much too hot inside
The people opposite my kitchen window have the most beautiful and lushly overgrown balcony ever
In three weeks from now, I'm going to be in either Ravenna or Mantua -- in any case, a place that I have wanted to be for a long time!
