It's because they are an extension of ones self. It's nice to think someone cares enough about you to talk about your pup, and in Milliways, if you go through all the threads and have a well known pup, you're likely to find appreciative references to them.

Absolutely. At least that's how I'd assume it works in Milliways. From what I can see, the trick of getting that kind of buzz is to have a pup that everyone knows and either feels affectionate about or that gives fantastic plot. That way everyone will want in on the act.

Also if it's a mun everyone likes then people talk about her pups because they like her, if that makes sense.
