If you are working on pop culture references, you would like to look at the work of teriel. He does it with an esoteric approach, using strong shared pop culture references instead of traditional gods, but he really has a point beyond the meditations and stuff.
Heh, thanks. My Dissertation is going to be about Zombies, though, rather than general pop culture references ;) It'll be one area to find quotes in, though!
Eh, well, on a course like mine (Cultural and Historical Studies) the 12000 word project can end up being about practically anything, and I was going to do something "serious", but then I thought, I might only get one chance, so Zombies it is, after studying Horror, but not really getting into the zombie side of things. People glorify vampires, witches, even serial killers, but poor old zombies get left out in the literary and critical cold. It might be fun, it might drive me mad! We'll see...
