Okay, question to the flist: does anybody know where I can complain to LJ about some specific advertising? I AM willing to see ads instead of paying for my account, but enough with the Muslim Brides and the weight loss ads already.

I find both deeply offensive, for different reasons, and need to tell LJ that I do! not!! want!!!

The advertising is especially targeted, so there must be a way of de-target that offensive drivel away from me!

What the fuck indeed!! It is a banner ad with a smiling young woman in a tight red veil. Part of me wants to snatch her away and keep her safe from anybody who'd click that banner in earnest!

Personally, I use an ad blocker. I don't know if that's an approach you can or want to use.

Nope, not really, because I'm keeping my mun account in Chrome. And I keep shifting around on computers: main private comp, EEE, work computer, and occasionally the one in the bakery in the Miserable Village.

I really feel the NEED to tell them that I find these ads offensive, too, and want them gone, at least for me. As for the Muslim brides, I even feel they should be gone altogether -- see what I said to Ven, above.

I understand how Facebook ads are targeted (you enter a lot of demographic info), but not sure what exactly LJ would use for targeting. Doesn't look like it's based on your "interests" really. And I wouldn't say Germans are more likely to be into Muslimm brides than others. So I'm rather baffled. Perhaps they only -have- those two advertisers?
