Anita Blake sucks Venetian canal water! She's got the combination of whinginess and entitlement, snotty arrogance and demands to be made to feel good, that I especially hate in certain of my colleagues from the sales department.

I have no idea what it is in men's brains that such diva-like behaviour makes otherwise unremarkable chicks instantly desirable to them. Perhaps the attitude of 'You can't have me, and you'd better do this and that for me right now this instant!' is irresistable for them?

And yes, I have seen it work in RL. It is, unfortunately, not purely fictional. Still, it makes that fictional woman hard to stomach. My Milli!Teja is going to hate her guts. Sorry, Saundra!

*laugh* Yes, she is quite possibly the worst character I have had the misfortune to come across. If it wasn't for lovely Asher, Nathaniel, and Jason, I would have given up long ago. *sigh* Her world-building in early books was good, the plots were intriguing, at least, but now...no plot, no character development, just Anita and her Crotch O'D00000M.

Ugh, I just tried reading the first one again, thinking - incorrectly - that I enjoyed the first few books before it became a non-stop erotic boredom fest. I gave up quickly. I can't stand Anita... or any of the others, except maybe Edward. He was pretty okay!
