Summer has been cancelled

We hereby officially announce that summer 2009 has been cancelled in Germany.

The cats are already regrowing their winter coat, and eating and sleeping lots, because of the additional metabolic stress.-

This is my third July visit to England and again, I'm impressed at how it's just not summer. Although it's not AS cold as it's been on my prior 2 trips here, let's just say that today I went out walking from 11:30 to 3 and wore a wool shawl the entire time. It's something like 15 C out, which to me doesn't seem like summer. Only really rainy day was Monday though.

Last week and the week before it was unpleasantly hot and humid with lots of horrible sunshine. We didn't so much sunburn as scald.

England's just a pants place for holidays if you're a sun worshipper. On the other hand it's been a while since we've had a significant earthquake or a military coup.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I loathe hot weather. (Why do I live in Atlanta, Georgia? Got me!)

Atlanta was lovely and green and leafy when I was there in April. I hope it doesn't sere off during the summer. That would be such a pity.

No summer? You say that as if it were a bad thing!

I know, I know, I'm being difficult. It's just that the weather HERE has been so awful and hot. I hate it. I need to move to a place that is always gray, overcast, drizzly, and cool. It's too bad Seattle is on the other side of the darn country :)

True, a little sun can be OK. Alles in Massen, as you say over there.
