Within half an hour, I had both nazgulwears  and carolinw  ask about their sports (kendo, and dressage riding, respectively) which they can't get on TV, and hardly get news about online.

Why is there ALWAYS sports on the telly, but never the one you want to see? People, it's not all soccer, tennis, baseball, and Formula 1. Perhaps we should found a streaming site/web TV station for niche sports nobody else wants to broadcast?

I quite like Snooker; luckily, there is a channel here that sometimes shows it, but anything else easily supersedes it, and then the interesting parts are relegated to their for-pay online channel...

Oh god, snooker! Move here! During the world championship it is on for DAYS in FULL *yawn*. I guess you can't watch BBC iPlayer from Germany?

Nope.

And the BBC channels we get via satellite are encrypted. The old beeb is really bloody protective about their contents.

Yeah, well they don't get money from advertising, so you can kind of understand it. I don't know why they can't offer it abroad for a subscription fee though. I guess they would have to charge what they charge everyone in the UK though, which might be a bit steep.

I think they do offer it abroad for a rather steep subscription fee, actually. As they offer probably the most interesting TV program in the world (Dr. Who + Torchwood, groundbreaking documentaries etc.), I can't really blame them. I might even be willing to pay for it, but only if that lets me into iPlayer as well...

I wonder why they didn't even post the results on the official website.
It's not like the whole world is sitting on their sofas watching the whole event live on TV... :-/
It's a World Championship and I have to read some Romenian twitter to get (sometimes even wrong) results.

PS: When the Australian opens up again I would like to go one night to have cider and watch rugby (preferably when New zealand is playing).

But we can, hoping that the Australian will open there again, and not some plastic restaurant for gentrification layer 3 yuppies, as it happened to where the Korean restaurant was opposite no. 6 where I used to live.
