SPN 5.02

  • OMG angels call you on the phone now instead of just appearing in a bright light?? Don't know why I find a phone call from Castiel such a cute idea. Also, even Sam calls him 'Cas'!
  • Aha so it WAS God! Do I want God as a fictional character in a TV show (the charries from which then can tell my poor atheist Ostrogoth in Milliways that they have seen God)?
  • Awwwww Castiel telling Dean off in no uncertain terms!
  • Heee Dean feels naked without his amulet! Also, his little brother accidentally gave him something very important and God-related that Christmas years and years ago. Where the heck did Sam get it from?
  • Oh wow -- Dean wants to talk, in the church under siege? 'Hey what's wrong' -- that is so not Dean normally!
  • The poor priest, trying to wrap his mind around it actually being the apocalypse -- also, yay X-Files reference
  • As it's not demons, then if Sam had tasted the blood of the two teenagers he killed he'd have realised there was no effect? And cottoned on to what was up that much faster? So much for withstanding temptation!
  • Oooooh and a LotR reference on top of the X-Files one. 'Pit stop at Mount Doom' ftw!
  • Oh damn he really does go away with that bloke with the little house on the back of his huuuuge truck. Where do they get such huge cars?

Non-SPN related bullet points of random randomness:

  • OMG actual lunch at lunchtime! When I work, I never have lunch; and when I don't, I usually only wake up around lunchtime.
  • Oh, Nazgul, Calpis isn't quite the sort of recent fad we thought it to be. It is quite traditional! But I do think my version is a passable imitation; however, I'll try and get the concentrate at the Hongkong Market so we can compare.
  • Also, I envy you Americans for having an elected leader who not only has an actual personality and is intelligent, but also has a sense of humour and is dorky!

God as a fictional character doesn't really work for me. I am really not sure I will like whatever direction they go.

Sam got the amulet from Bobby. Where did BOBBY get it?

Bobby gave it to Sam and Sam was going to give it to John, and then gave it to Dean instead. It's in the flashbacks in "A Supernatural Christmas."

So the big question is still, where did Bobby get it? Though I think powerful artifacts being bought and sold without people knowing their true power is a pretty common trope with this sort of universe.

Powerful, yes, but not necessarily all the details of it. For example, what it appears to be could be one thing, and it could have been invested with a second layer of power via spell etc. at some point in the distant past.

I bet we find out more, though.

I think God as a character was inevitable as soon as they brought in angels and Lucifer.

Huge cars are a common sight, especially out in the intermountain west (like Colorado). I actually learned to drive in a truck like that (sans the camper in the back.)

Oh, you'd feel a slight bumping sensation...

I'm not overly keen on God as a character, for various reasons: I'm not sure there's any way they can portray him without it just coming off as anticlimactic and a bit lame, and it's also delving a little too far into religion for my tastes. I'm comfortable enough with angels and demons, but any more and I grow uncomfortable about the amount of religion.

Still, should be fun, and I did love the "I heard he was seen on a tortilla!" "... No, he's not on any form of flatbread," exchange.

Calpis: Just wait until Muc is done with drinking Aperol Spritz. Next spring you will see yuppies sitting outside in those cafés with glasses of milky opaque stuff in front of them...
