...for RPG Pre-Post Plottage
I remembered Gimel plays the guitar - she could volunteer to accompany Jeannie when she sings for Tomjon, so they'd meet this way. Then happy brain implosion can happen.

...for the Mismatching of Concepts:
The Wayward Frenchman is still sitting on the fence on schiarire 's Molière question. He needs to consult more experts, he says. In the meanwhile, he talks and talks per email instead of getting himself an LJ like a sensible person. And he sends stuff I don't want. On Saturday he sent a Le Monde article about some rugby game, of all things!! I threatened to send him a red envelope with pepper and cat's hair in it (instead of a Howler, which I can't do, being a muggle) if he doesn't let up, but only after I got the answer about Molière, because I wanted that first before damaging him with the pepper and probably putting him out of commission with the cat's hair. He poked fun at me today over this, saying I would never get that Molière answer now, as he'd get pepper then once he doesn't have that hold over me any more. A rather ditzy way of me to threaten him, I must admit. A bit like the apples and flowers on Sunday...

...for Evil Life Forms
The Fell Beasts have gone home, and not even Tepp at the discworld_rpg got the Creature from the Dungeon Dimensions because that's dissolved and only goo now. Thus, I am so totally pet-less at the moment.

...for Circuitiously and Ambagiously Plotted Courses
The other day, I cycled the other way just out of curiosity and ended up halfway in the next village. I took an hour for the ten minutes' ride to the station. It was beautiful weather, though, not too hot and not too windy; ideal for cycling crosscountry a bit - at one stage, I ended up on a soggy riding path. I didn't do it on purpose, but I enjoyed it.

I got Zer Handbook today - meaning to say, the Discworld Reformed Vampyre's Diary from last year. It has Octeday every week. I like Octeday. The Nazgul suggested dividing the hours of the week by eight and then recalculating the days to make room for an Octeday. She liked the idea very much as well.

Yes, she said so at once, too. I had to believe her. She can do maths, I can't. If she says it works out, we can do it if we feel like it. We disredard night and morning anyway, what with the RPG. We've mostly collapsed RL time in favour of Ankh-Morpork time as it is. So why not do Octeday properly?

Metric time system? I didn't know there was one. On the contrary, don't they have atomic clocks to precisely define the second as such?

21 hours a day? Sounds good. Then one could easily cope with sleeping five hours a night. Not that I slept five hours last night, mind you. I slept a bit more than three.

If I'd told that to myself twelve years ago, I would never have believed it. With my best friend from Finland, who was a bit Victor-ish about his at least eight hours of sleep per night, I very much agreed that anyone who slept less than six hours on a regular basis must be some sort of perverse masochist...

Zer Handbook! the crazed coverart is just about the most brilliant kidby illustration i've ever seen. i gave that to siobhan as a birthday present last year and it amused us often at times when we were supposed to be taking notes.

Oh, yes, Zer Handbook! I don't know yet what I'll write into it, though. As the year it was made for is over with. Pre-post plottage, perhaps. When the Snape notebook I use now is finished.

I noticed Otto actually looks quite a lot like Adrien Brody around the eyeybrows and the nose in Kidby's version, don't you think?

But they didn't mention Margolotta! I wanted there to be a Kidby drawing of her! She only gets mentioned once, as making a speech that impressed somebody, and then is called a "Countess", too.

Oh yes, there is Otto in the handbook. I don't have it on me, as I'm at work (my boss is being a Mafia Don somwhere else today, so I have my peace to do one work-related item and one that I like in turn, like the proper BOFH that I am), so I can't say you on which pages; he is there remarkably more often than once. And he does look like Adrien Brody, especially around the eyebrows and nose.

Well, there might be some Margo in that Art of Discworld book that's being announced and postponed all the time...

Now I'm at home and can get at Zer Handbook again.-

The pages don't have numbers, tough. Otto's mentioned as archivist of the League, and he's in the large picture somewhere in the front part that has all the League officers. He's on the back cover, in shape of a little pile of ash. Then he's on the Octeday of the week from Grune 28th to August 3rd. With a picture all of his own.

Margolotta just gets mentioned that once...

Please convey to ex-Prince Teppic my profound congratulations on his finally getting his head out of his arse and Chidder into it, or however they've chosen to arrange matters. I did put in an order for one (1 and only one, please!) statue of Hat the Vulture-Headed God, and would be more than happy to arrange for pick up and transportation, as I can certainly understand Mr Teppic would like to be shed of it as soon as possible. I anticipate it will scare the bejeezus out of passersby prove a fascinating conversation piece. I was also interested in any available items pertaining to the Goddess of Small Scruffy Things Which Regurgitate Into Your Sandals Just Before Dawn.

We might prevail on Ponder to do some more trans-dimensional transportation; he pulled off quite a feat at that just now. But if *you* arrange pickup and transportation, you'd have to come to Ankh-Morpork for it. People are quite welcoming there, you know. We have William de Worde available at the moment; his RPer is giving him up in favour of other story lines. He'd get to be slightly slashy with Otto as well, especially if Eugenie ever posts that loggage we did and I sent her... And then there is one Gimel Metatronim who crossed over from her own world by something of an accident and is asserting herself mightily; she can do with an RPer who knows a bit of both Storm Constantine and Discworld, really, to be truly fair to her.

Oh my God! William! William! One of my favourite characters ever. I am SO tempted, but I have such a bad track record with picking up commitments and not going through with them, that I'm terrified to even suggest a nibble of interest. I'd hate to let the community down by signing up and then not participating.

If I did, though, what would the requirements be?

No requirements! We have people dormant for ages, and they can always come back later. Like the Patrician, who's gone quite dormant on margolotta on account of, among other things, his RPer running useless_caucus.

You are in no danger there. You are free to come and go as you please.

Just post a comment to the group journal (discworld_rpg) to say you're interested. William is les_mots_justes, and there you can read up on him. It's Frarsie (fahye who's willing to give him up. She's mostly doing Chidder and his OC sister Jeannie these days, and taking up Ginger in addition. We won't even have to ask Siobhan to put your character on the group, as William's already on it.

Oh dear. I'm oscillating between trepidation and excitement. I'm also oscillating between abducting William and nabbing Ptraci. Is there a current Ptraci player? You guys are so mean to her in character, sniff sniff, although if anyone can stand up to those two louts incredibly sweet and sensitive guys, it'd be Ptraci.

No, there is no current Ptraci player. We are being mean to her just like that, with nobody to talk back at us. Of course I'm sure you're welcome to take up Ptraci. Just start an LJ for her and post with that account but OOC on the group LJ discworld_rpg that you're there and would like to be added to the group - the group the place is for discussion and posting loggage between several characters.

The one to add you is Siobhan, aka Celestina, Big Mad Drongo (= Adrian Turnipseed, student wizard) in the RPG.

No more formalities are to be observed or anything.

Ptraci's player is an lj idiot caught in a loop. She can't post to the community without being a member, and she can't be a member without posting to the community. Or has she overlooked something quite basic?

Ptraci thinks that's quite likely, really.
