The Yom Kippur War 1973. I remember sitting in the kitchen with my dad and grandmother, and my mother coming in from watching the news in the living room, and declaring 'War! Israel and Egypt!'

I wanted to know what was up, and people started explaining to me, and that was when my life as a politically thinking person started.

Mine was either Patty Hearst's bank robbery (which she was brainwashed into committing) or Watergate (which Nixon should have been brought to justice for). Whichever was earlier.
