I think they like the texture. They are very tactile creatures, after all.
Just last night Daniel and I were watching TV and we heard the sound of crinkling plastic and turned to see Phoebe playing with an empty store bag. It was cute, but not priceless, so we returned to our show.
Then, a few minutes later we heard a commotion and turned to see her running around with her head caught in the handle hole. She then ran into my bedroom with the bag trailing behind her "chasing her." Then we heard a crash and lots of shredding, and she then ran out back into the living area - free at last. It was so cute :)
Cats have ideas, it's really funny. Just now, Mephisto decided to play with a thick green rubber band. He liked the way it wobbled and moved, and kept fetching it so I could throw it and he could hunt it again...
Oh yes! I know that game. Sofie loves it. We even have a name for it...Meck-meck. Sometimes when she sees the rubber band she makes that chirping/smacking mouth that sounds like meck-meck.
