Precisely two years ago, a little spot of darkness with glowing eyes was delivered to my flat.



He is bigger now, but not any prettier.



And the responsible adulthood thing has passed him by, too. He still tries to nurse on Lucifer.



He also worships UFOs and says 'krah!' instead of meeaow. He is a very strange cat.

But we love him nevertheless.-

My cats are weird, especially Mephisto. I'm not denying it.

But I'm still glad I have them.

I only have the one cat now, and she is not nearly as entertaining at the ripe old age of fourteen.

Frankly, I'm surprised she's still alive.

Awww! Cats live to be fourteen to sixteen years old, and some get considerably older.

And ancient pets do have a certain something. There's a lady I know through my German blog who had her venerable dog for sixteen years today -- same anniversary date as Mephisto.

All the posts she does about the antics and mannerisms of 'Frau Hunt' are always very entertaining...

The Nazgul and I will have wine, and the cats will have tuna; and the the humans will go to the Australian pub to celebrate the Nazgul's very first point scored in a kendo tournament ever, and the cats will hopefully not destroy the flat...

Indeed! A few days ago, my cat decided to pretend the ground was made out of shifting molten rock ... ALL DAY LONG. Everywhere she went she picked her steps very carefully, and verrrrry slowly.

Yesterday, she had a Battle To End All Battles... with a plastic bag. She'll go to her grave claiming the bag started it.

I had never considered celebrating that day, which I know. Instead I have guessed at the girls' birthdays. Your approach is much more meaningful.

I even know when exactly Mephisto was born, because my colleague Lena had told me right the next Monday that the first kittens had been born in her stable.
