The only original one is the Blacherniotissa (the standing Virgin Mary); she is hand-painted and has actual gold leaf. She's new, though, and the fellow who painted her was from Romania, which is not actually icon country.
I don't have them because they might be valuable or anything, but because I like them.
Of course they are!! There are even new types of icons still being developed. Orthodox Christianity is a living, breathing religion with lots of vigour and impetus, you know.
I recently got a book on how to paint icons, even. The Nazgul and I will try. We try every artsy thing at least once.
The poseable mannequin is not quite as poseable as I would actually like him. There are many odd postures that humans can do and he can't...
Yes, those are the icons I meant. I might make myself an LJ icon from that picture of the Blacherniotissa for this account, as I never use the third LJ icon I have.
What's a Gumby? Sorry; notoriously bad at pop culture references, as I said. But the mannequin wouldn't be able to do Tepp on the Tower of Art, either.
Gumby. (http://www.cold-sweat.net/gumby.jpg) Claymation; quite bendy. Sorry, I'm full of references. This one was bad, especially as I never really watched Gumby in the first place.
Oh, that's not all of them yet! There's those on the other side of the window, and then there's those I have at work...
The Nazgul and I are going to teach ourselves to paint them with the help of a very thorough book and the things she heard from an icon-painting Orthodox monk in Finland. I shall soon be overgrown with icons and the be forced to spread them around...

Are they originals? And where did you find them?

Thanks for the link, from what little I've seen, it looks fascinating and well thought-out. So, there are still icons being produced these days?

They might come in very useful, too. Icons are a wonderful housing for entities; in fact, saints are nothing but the Christian version of entities.
