I can completely see it. I need to tag her with Sameth, I think they'd have an interesting conversation.

She starts talking at about 8 minutes into the video. She is just so totally Ma'at -- that no-nonsense attitude with an equal part of distance and passion, if that can be mixed at all. The hair, the feminine and businesslike appearance she presents, the very presence of that woman at that round table of talking heads -- that's just how I picture Ma'at embodying in human shape, in modern times.

And yes, please do! As the comm is moving like molasses, that EP is definitely still open.

Her expression is priceless when she's looking at Mr. Purple Tie. I want to put a balloon over her head that says, "You are so full of shit..."

It's interesting watching the newsweek sockpuppet trying to sell the package of "captialism is good, any criticism is 'socialism' and bad, it's all kids, etc."

It looks like the Middle East still has real journalism. I wish there was more of it in the US...

I've become addicted to Al Jazeera since early February; if you want real international journalism, that's the go-to place. The focus is on Asia and Africa, not Europe or America, but things that happen there do get covered extensively as well. The perspective is just different.

And 'Empire' is the best. The little snarky summaries Marwan Bishara delivers at the end are sometimes up there with the best of political anti-Bush rant Keith Olbermann ever delivered. Also, he really takes his guests apart and calls them out on the boilerplate they spout. In this episode, he is comparatively moderate as the taking-apart and calling-out is done admirable by Rabab el-Mahdi as it is. He should invite her more often. She's immensely brilliant.
