'Ashes to Ashes'

I think I just bought into the premise of 'Ashes to Ashes' while watching the third episode, watching Alex Drake handle two female victims in a respectful 2000s way while Gene Hunt is totally 1981 about the whole thing...

I thought the dynamic couldn't work without Sam Tyler, but in this moment, it does come into its own.


ETA: Did they have this one condemned warehouse and block of streets to make their show in? Because that's somehow all they ever go to.

Yep it is very convincing; and I like the way Gene and Alex both get to be wrong (or right) at the same time. Through that, they work together well.

I started watching 3 quarters of the way through that series. I thought it was very good.

You're right about the sets though.

They probably had those places and were filming the last bit of life out of them before they got redeveloped as high-rise condos.

That could also be explained as a plot point: Alex doesn't have much of an imagination for architecture ;)

That would account for the inverted kitchen floor lighting pattern on the ceiling.-
