Picture post

I spent a great morning today drinking tea, watching Supernatural, reading, enjoying feline company, and taking some pictures. I'd recently pushed the furniture in my room around a little bit, and I think it works better than before. There seems to be more space.

I got the square-shelved IKEA cupboard from its corner and used it as a partition at the beginning of the room, trying to make the room seem shorter and wider. The way it was loooooong and narrow was starting to get on my nerves.

See how there is more free space at the end, with no TV cart taking up floor space there any more?

The divan, now headed off by the partitioning cupboard.

The TV went all the way up to the wall where the cupboard used to be, and as there was more free wall space, the 'City Of Sphinxes' series of paintings could get a corner all to itself; it looks much better there than before, when it hung with the larger pictures over the divan.

The cats have lots of lounging space, too. With the little chest of drawers in that corner, the room as a whole doesn't feel so bedroom-y any more. In a dining-kitchen-and-one-room layout, it would be such a waste to have the room look like a bedroom.

The lava lamp, bubbling. The Nazgul gave me this purple-and-yellow lamp for my last birthday after Mephi had ruined my old one.

The little metal table had gone outside with the last larger change of looks already, when I'd bought the woven chair.

Here, have some actual building site orcs busy at their job. Oh, work is such a great invention! I could watch people doing it for hours.

Of course, with all the birds and workmen coming by, there are always interesting scents. Lucifer is standing upright to sniff at the crack of the window.

If you look closely, you can see the black-on-black tabby stripes in Mephisto's fur.

Lucifer sniffs up at the human's fudz (tea and tniy Italian biscuits) while molested by a luxuriously bushy black tail. Mephi is hairier than his older brother!

That opening in the partition has now been declared the Cat Passage. Walking around furniture is for humans. At this moment, Mephi is inspecting the human's to-be-read stack.

Mephi washing Lucifer's ears; Lucifer doesn't entirely trust the situation. But you can see Mephisto's stripes again!

Sometimes, the little black villain must be shown who is boss!cat. Basement cat or not.

Of course, he tries to fight back.

But even protests and hissing won't help him.

That is what a smugly triumphant cat looks like!

Mephi retreats to the shelf with the toolbox and the orange fluffly pillows -- yes, THOSE fluffy orange pillows!

And now, finally, Lucifer can sleep in peace.
"For the loan of a flagpole and two dozen cups..."

, i.e. random addition at the end.
Remember how I have been whinging about the state of my main laptop, and how I need a new one as soon as Windows 7 comes out and is out of its worst teething troubles? You saw the white strip of six pixels width on the other pics showing the screen (with bonus Castiel on it); now I will show you problem no. 2: the keyboard. See how the letters are rubbed off of the keys, and the unlabelled key between B and ยต (user to be M) has a deep groove from me hacking on it with the nail of my right index finger? You will have to believe me that the almost unlabelled key between X and V keeps getting stuck in the most awkward moments. I do know the difference between changing and hanging!
