Yes I normally use black but Danny is dead and it is a bit depressing. I wanted something fluffy and schmoopy and sweet and light for their early love affair. I thought roses were nice since gay men in that era wouldn't have been able to date openly (Danny's murder is based on a rl event. My friend -- who incidentally is German :) -- was a student at Acadia University when a friend of hers was murdered for being homosexual. I recreated that in my Ivo/Danny canon.

Given how completely depressing all of that is, I wanted some light fluff in the early part of their relationship. :)
