The job is interesting and fascinating and eating too much of my brainmeats, but that is what happens with new jobs.

Oh yes! I'm starting to find things that need to change (and that can change, as I'm the 'new broom' in that setup), and people can be disorganised and demanding, but it's such an improvement to the old slavery!

And that's all that counts. I must say my attitude about my work is changing, too. I have been very excited about the corners we've all turned. The team is doing much more challenging things. Not always well but at least it's new. :)

Did you get the new Rowling book? I can't afford the $35 but I am DYING for it! I am off to B&N to sit and read it.

Not yet -- I have an iPad now and reading all the e-books, but don't trust the thing enough yet to shell out actual money for them. So, I am hedging bets. Also, the Nazgul has ordered it (on paper), so I might simply borrow it from her when she is done.

The Guardian slammed her, comparing her to Dickens. Uh, since when is writing like Dickens an insult????

Mostly everyone is comparing it to HP which is silly.

It's very political, most definitely socialist in leaning, but -- hey! -- that's my politics so it won't offend me at all. :D

I actually don't think the reviewer did read HP. I think he just wanted to slam her for writing something after HP.

There are books that you can only read electronically! My iPad's Kindle app is currently full of PDFs downloaded from AO3. Finally, I can read all the fic as I wanted to!
