I never saw XM. Hunger was his best role but Inglorious Basterds was wonderful.
He should have won an Oscar for Hunger (it's the Bobby Sands story -- the IRA prisoner who starved himself to death). It's the best Irish film I have ever seen, and I have followed the struggles since I was a teen (a member of the Young Socialist Alliance obtained footage from H-block; someone had smuggled a camera in).
Shame is a very different topic -- a sex addict who is unable to be intimate in any relationship, even with his sister.
