On watching 'Shame'
- Does every American with an appartment keep a baseball bat around to hit intruders with?
- Watching him go running is actually the visually most interesting bit yet.
- It does the same non-moving camera thing at times that 'Archipelago' does, but not quite as obnoxiously..
- Oh dear, cocaine. How cliché: ad exec => snorts cocaine. Nobody does that where I work!
- Is there a reason they are mostly wearing grey? Is grey the new black, or at least was it at the time?
- And then, suddenly, everything is meaningfully red...

That said, I thought the most agonising scene was when he was with these two prostitutes or whatever near the end and it was so totally joyless. He doesn't have intimacy, and he doesn't even have fun, he just does it because it's there, sort of thing.

What about the date with the co-worker and then the inability to have sex with her? that was brilliant!
(And, yes, all of my cousins in NYC have baseball bats)

And yes, all the sex was dreadful in that movie, as it was supposed to be, but I actually found the part with the two tarts worst. He looked as if he was in terrible pain throughout, simply performing as if by script of an invisible porn movie.
