Before he was cast out from all he knew, Loki was ready to settle -- in the second place, on the steps of the throne, working with what fate gave him. But once he knew it had all been a lie, he was free to invent himself and dream big. It was really silly of Thor's little friends to believe he would settle for ruling their small planet, when the alternative was -- everything!

The harp is a gentle instrument that would not bear up against the clang of war, and would always give a war-like Goth a counterpoint to his skills in battle. The aulos, on the other hand, is a importunate instrument that will whistle shrilly and assail one's ear with no escape; the tibia utricularis, is a battle in and of itself, a blaring attack, a declaration of war. Teja hates it.

Urquhart flares our his cloak when the door of the inn opens and light spills out. A dark shape moves over the wall opposite, and the drunkards staggering out start shouting and gibbering, superstitious idiots that they are. While more drinkers spill out, Urquhart slips in, completely unnoticed.

Urquhart still has the torn underwear that he wiggled into, that morning in Sto Helit when they were worming their way into that ball with the second-best whiskey. It had been insufferably narrow in the leg, and hadn't really survived the day. Moist had most likely not even noticed his underwear was rather wider than usual that day.
